Inés Beato Vassolo
Visual artist

Ine Beato is an Argentinian visual artist based in Madrid. Driven by her inner states of mind, her painting practice unfolds through an interplay of stains and strokes that embraces spontaneity and unexpected behaviours across large surfaces. The wide chromatic palette she chooses responds to an ongoing interest in the psychological impact of color, a field she explores in her professional activity as an architect, stylist and interior designer. Her gesture is direct and energetic: it is necessity poured into matter, with no preliminary sketches.
Her work becomes a seismographic record of her bodily involvement in the creative process, as well as a rough and spontaneous testimony of her intimacy. The triggers that guide her loaded brushtrokes are emotional impulses rooted in routine, relationships, journalistic fieldworks and retrospections of past memories –memories she revisits through old photographs and diaries, allowing new feelings to reshape them.
In the words of American artist Georgia O’Keeffe, Ine echoes: “I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way—things I had no words for.”
